THE ITALIAN JOB starring Mark Wahlberg, Charlize Theron, Mos Def, John
Statham, Ed Norton and Donald Sutherland
3 scissors and a razor. 1/2
Modern remake of, previously not viewed, Michael Caine flik of same name.
Lots of action and suspense. This film is a fun adventure into criminality and
double-crosses. Quite entertaining (Review date, June 2003)
- Bruce Almighty PG-13 starring Jim Carrey, Jennifer Aniston and
Morgan Freeman as "GOD" and......JAG's Catherine Bell in a
supporting role
3 scissors and a
razor--------SEE IT! 1/2
Actually a really funny look at belief and dis-belief. Laugh aloud voice
and sight gags coupled with tender moments of a love story. Be sure to stay
for the out-takes during the credits. (Review date, June 2003)

Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas
3 scissors -
Starring Jim Carrey
Directed by the genius Ron Howard. I was not familiar with the story
and don't really care for Carrey, but the make up, sets, costumes and the
over-all flow of the film was excellent. Not for small children. (Had
a screaming and crying little one in my line of sight. Couldn't see to
guess how old.)
-
Unbreakable
3 1/2 scissors - 1/2
starring Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson
written, produced and directed by M. Night Shayamalan. It's kind of
slow going, but stick it out. The story is by the creator of "The Sixth
Sense" and is equally creative. Different take on things with a twist
or two thrown in for good measure. Take care not to be confused by the
"flashback" style of time lining. Brilliant!
-
Bounce
2 scissors -
starring Ben Affleck and Gwenith Paltrow with Joe Morton and
"Roseanne's" Johnny Galecki. Predictable "date flic"
with smatterings of humor by Galecki.
-
Charlie's Angels
3 scissors -
starring Lucy Liu, Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore, Kelly Lynch and Bill
Murray. Fun, action adventure with real excitement, at times. Some
spoofing of movies made from TV shows and a few quick scenes that bring old
classic films to mind. Crispin Glover (M.J. Fox's dad in "Back to the
Future") plays a creepy, heavy.
-
Men of Honor
4 scissors -
starring Robert DeNiro, Cuba Gooding, Jr. and Charlize Theron with Hal
Holbrook. Based on a real person, this is a tale of courage,
determination and honor. Gooding is superb as Carl Brashear and will
probably receive an "Oscar nod". DeNiro is, as usual, great. Carl
Lumbly, although in a bit part as the senior Brashear, is powerful. The
barriers that existed during that era were only breezed over due to time
constraints, but we get the idea.
-
Remember the Titans
4 scissors -
starring Denzel Washington and Will Patton. Well done real story. Very
good performances by the entire cast. Much more than football. Life lessons.
-
The 6th Day
3 scissors -
starring Arnold Schwarzenegger,. A credible, sci-fi, action thriller.
A real thought provoker, if you take the science seriously.
-
Meet the ParentsMeet the Parents
2 scissors -
starring Robert deNiro & Ben Stiller. Goofy fun and good
"medicine".
The Contender
4 scissors -
"The Contender" w/ Jeff Bridges, Joan Allen, Gary Oldman, &
Christian Slater. Political hardball with bats of ethics and
principles. A must see for any woman wanting a career outside the home and
for men in general. A very well made morality play with some suspense and
twists.
Space Cowboys
2 scissors -
starring Clint
Eastwood, Tommy Lee Jones, James Garner and Donald Sutherland Good sci-fi
flick with a typical Clint "kick-ass" attitude. Dramedy -cool
twist at end...............
